Shots from the fog demo.
In order to get a light beam you
have to add fog to the atmosphere.
A colored gel can make the beam
look like moonlight or sunlight.

Many productions use a thin layer
of fog in order to add depth to the set.
This works like a selective diffusion filter,
affecting the visual density of the
background more than the foreground.
